Report: Sound Transit Policy not Allowing Riders to Play on Tracks “Total Buzzkill”
In a controversial move this week, Sound Transit announced that it will continue its policy of not allowing riders to run out onto the light rail tracks real quick. The agency confirmed that the rule does not allow exceptions, even if passengers promise that they are just going to jump down real fast and then go right back up.
The rule prohibits any gallivanting, jaunting, or merrymaking on the tracks along the 1 Line between Northgate and Angle Lake. “At Sound Transit, safety is our top priority,” said spokesperson and total buzzkill Pat Monahan. “We pride ourselves on getting you where you need to go safely. We don’t want anyone to have to go to the hospital, but we would get them there safely!” he joked, clearly not understanding just how enticing the expansive tracks of Westlake station are, calling like a siren to a weary sailor.
When pressed for comment, the agency stood firmly by the decision. The tracks are “extremely dangerous” and “you could get seriously injured,” Monahan claimed. “I don’t like the way you’re looking at the tracks,” he told me. “Please stop looking at the tracks like that. I can see you trying to inch closer.”
